Totally new to cyber — is Security+ really the right first step?

Security+ assumes baseline IT literacy it won't teach — how networks, operating systems, and basic troubleshooting work. With zero IT background, a lot of people do A+ or Network+ concepts (or equivalent self-study) first, or they white-knuckle Security+ and spend double the time. Not a hard rule, but be honest about your starting point so you pick the humane path.
This was me a few months ago — I did Network+ concepts first and Security+ made way more sense for it.
