Career-changer here (helpdesk → IAM at 34). Teaching is a genuine asset: you can explain risk to non-technical people, which most junior analysts can't. Lead with that in interviews, not with an apology for your background.
+1. Half my GRC team are career-changers. "I can run a room and write clearly" is rarer than another person who knows nmap.
