CISM while still fairly technical — worth it now or wait for a lead role?

The exam is passable now; the experience requirement (and the value) lands later. Passing early "banks" the knowledge and signals ambition, but you can't hold the cert until you have the qualifying management experience. If your employer pays and you enjoy the governance side, do it. If money's tight, a technical cert compounds faster at your stage.
